Going to the University of Michigan Dearborn becomes very, lets say complicated when you do not have your own personal way of transportation. For the past couple of months, my close family has been banding together to make deals and plans as to how and when they will take me to college. This means ive been having to wake up at 6 sometimes to leave by 7 to sit in the university center for about 2 hours for my 9:55 class. I live in Northville and its about a 30 minute drive away, maybe longer if you include the very nice people and wonderful roads of Evergreen and the Southfield freeway.....
Either way, ive been looking for a car since March/April of this year and throughout the entire summer, my search has been proven unsuccessful...If you know of anyone that has a car for sale, please let me know! Im going very tired of not being able to have my own way of transportation and i need to say that kids that are given cars to them and have life handed to them really do not know what life is really all about. Its much harder to having to start paying things on your own and that is where im at in my life right now... Along with so many other complicated events...
thanks for hearing me out...

WooHoo!!
Well the day that I have been hearing about so much throughout my high school, the midterm has gone and past. I have to be completly honest, I was VERY VERY nervous for this midterm.
It was in my sociology class and we have been learning about 1 chapter per class. I have the class every week, 1 day for 3 hours ( or for 2 hours 55 minutes lol) and it is and can be very stressful and taxing on my body. At first i did not want to continue with the class, but i felt that i could push through and put my mind too it.
I started on Friday studying for this exam/midterm...It did not turn out well so i decided to take a day off and continue on sunday....then on monday...then Tuesday comes and its test day! Im past nervous but i tell myself that i studied a lot for this and that i am ready. So i take it and wow, i am surprised, To me it felt very easy - that i just knew the material. So i am very happy about that lol
Maybe what my parents are saying to me are just to scare me to do well in college, but im not going to stop trying now!
:)

Midterm Blog
What I want to know at this point is how is class going for you? What's good, what's bad, what do you still need to know....etc. This will help me plan the rest of the semester.
______________________________________________________________________
For this blog, I'm not 100% sure as to what i want to say just yet. I feel that for a writing composition class, it is very infuriating to both the professor and the student to learn and write material within only the 1 term that we are both given...
Whats good? I like how the class works and runs. Class discussion is keeps my attention and im starting to have a better connection with my peers. I'm also learning about how to express myself more about community and voicing my opinion, a skill that we werent able to do while in high school... I like this a lot.
Whats bad to me is that some things in the required reading material, i have absoluetly no idea what some of the things are or what the author is even trying to relate to me. The text is hard for me to grasp and understand and with it having to be in our writing, the concepts and ideas of the text, it makes my ability to write a coherent paper that much harder...
I also described the time for this class way up above. I have 3 other classes that I am seriously trying to grasp and get a hold onto...the last thing i need is to be so overwhelmed and rushed that i fail or drop out of college because of the stress. Im not saying i cant handle the stress, but there is a point where enough is enough and this class could easily bring that to the table FOR ME, maybe not for someone else but for me. Writing is a difficult task for me...
Other than that, i just want to become or learn skills to improve my voice in my community and how im going to become a overall better writer.
-I hope this satisfies the requirements of this blog!

6 months with Courtney
I sorta got sick during this week, but I have been trying to fight it off and feel better for this exact day! Tomorrow is 6 months ive been with my girlfriend and its exciting to her :) and yea, to me as well lol.
However, she is nervous about being around me because im still in "sick-but-recovering" mode, so it makes me sorta sad that we might not be able to celebrate it on the 24th, but as where i did not plan on getting sick, we can always have a time and place to celebrate it some other time, but Of course! i want to celebrate it tomorrow if I can with her, make it special...
Also, I think that taking my practice test for my Chemistry definitely improved my knowledge of this chem test i had to take today...thank god for pre-buff material :)
-Thanks for reading-

Sitting out in D-Town Northvile
I took some time to just sit...and RELAX! I really needed to do this because i am becoming more and more stressed everyday with trying to balance out my life...
My parents told me that college is much easier than what high school will ever be...HAHA, Yea right. I cant give a late pass, if i am absent from a class 2 or 3 times, i fail, and if i get a C in my comp class, im considered failing!!!!! AHHHH
college has many benefits and negatives to it. and i am just starting to realize the intensity of those differences...
Thanks for hearing me out :)

page 71 #1 homework
When i have to compare what i have learned in high school, compared to what i am learning now in college, i have to say that much of the classes that i took in high school can be considered with the description of jumping through hoops, because i just wanted to take a classes to get credits and get done with it. But in the mean time, i learned many basic skills and concepts from my math, writing, and science classes that if i havent taken them in high school, i would be suffering in college.
Now when i think what college classes will do to help improve my skills is much greater than high school...I havent taken enough college classes yet to determine this but i am going to assume that it will be much more worthwhile once im in college.
Without high school, i wouldnt have had the basis to enter college and be successful. Therefore, high school has helped me retain more useful knowledge, both inside and outside the classroom, such as interacting with my peers. If i didnt know how to do this in high school, then college would have steam rolled over me.
-thats my interpertation of #1 :),

Such a great Freedom...
When i was in high school, we were watched like hawks to stay in class and if we got caught playing hooky or whatever its called, we would get sent back to class and they would call our parents....
TODAY, i just saw how much freedom...or irresponsibility that kids have today in college. I was in my precalc class and more than half...actually probably 3/4 of our class was gone...I was in sort of a shock to see this...but wow. I guess it is the kids who are paying money to come here, it is there responsibility to show up to class...much different from high school :)
that's one new thing i have noticed about coming here to college...

Ugh...Nightmares come true!
So, here i am, on top of the world. I just got back my Precalc test, ya i already took the class in HS, but this is college now so its harder, and i got a 94 on my test! YAA! so excited! i take my chem test, and check out my score online and i got a C+......no i tell my self! noooooooo!
Haha it is hard for me to accept C grades or lower because through out my middle school years at a military school, it was drilled into my head "you get good grades you get rewarded, you dont do well in school you are locked down in your room" so i had a mindset that i ALWAYS needed to do well in school, and this carried out with me to high school. The discipline gained while being there helped me out alot and it truly gave me one of my keys to moving forward into the real world and my life.

MLK - Saturday Evening Post (Good-Bad)?
When it comes to the MLK birmingham speech and the Saturday evening post article, I feel that they were both good articles, but its based upon readability for me. now this is all my opinion, but When i read the MLK speech, I have much smoother read and i can basically place myself in his position that MLK is talking about....
MLK talks about the white moderate in his speech as a collective unit of people. This doesnt exactly mean ME or YOU but when he talks about White, he is placing the category of the largest amount of racism out into the open...White Moderates exclaiming that we are the group...the people that need to understand..need to learn how to deal with racial problems and issues...
Its not that i am not able to understand the other article, it is well written...but i have a better sense of what MLK is talking about with his words and where i am at....maybe its because our generation has been so immersed in learning about the African American's struggles in America...
thats my opinion though..
