Here goes Something...!

Well.... I have to say that the reading of Chapter one from our textbook was very interesting..

One thing that i found to my interest was that the book acclaimed our generation of being less involved in voting and the whole political game... They didnt want to overgeneralize about our generation as a whole, but they did talk about how we do not know enough information to truly understand what is happening in our nation when it comes to politics and such...

We listen to our public radios and such, hearing the viewpoints and ideas of people who tell us many many things that are happening and what we should do as voters and citizens to help change and make changes. When it comes to places and events as such as this, the book describes it as a demagogue, who is a person, normally a public figure, who manipulates the so called ignorance and prejudices of the masses or public for his/her own benefit or profit..

Now I do agree here. I really do think that our generation is VERY undereducated about what is happening in the world and how and what we can do to try to change it or even better understand it...

We also had to write a quickwrite yesterday and this proved to be very challenging to me because i havent taken the time to write that fast about a topic in about 5-6 months so it took me some time :) But one of the topics of our quickwrite pertained to FDR's speech and if we thought if he was a brave orator or a manipulator of words and sneakily persuaded people. Will i did not write about this because there were 3 topics, but i do think that he used a concept of Sentimentality, which is where a person appeals to the emotional side or appeals emotionally to people as a form of manipulation or persuasion. I think that you have to be a good Orator in order to be able to have such a power of words over people and be able to hit home with them on such an emotional level as FDR did in his 4 freeedoms speech.

As i wrap this blog up :) because its almost time for class (haha), i would like to run past one more time that we as a nation or at least generation need to become more educated with politics and issues affecting our society. We need to stop believing other people's Self-fulfilling prophecies and learn on our own, not tend to or want to believe that something is true based upon what someone else says. GO AND READ UP!! take the time to go on the internet and find out what it is that makes Barack Obama so great or not so great! only then, in my opinion, will we be able to make a difference and change in this world.
