Chapter 12 - 6.c Introduction

War brings about many toughts ans feelings to citizens of the nations that are engaged in it. The cost to intitae and carry out a wat are at levels that none can imagine. Due to so many emotional, physical, and capital costs, we as a nation are expected to make sacrifices to cope with and push through the concept of war. This can only be done though, if people are willing to make that sacrifice to support their nation. The authour, donald Lazere, asks the question that shouldnt everyone be willing to pay higher taxes during a time of war. By involving ourselves in the war effort, it will give us a satisfaction that we are supporing our nation and boosting our morale. Indeed, by paying higher taxes or helping the war effort, this would hurt our economy by taking more money out of the consumers pocket. However, we need to take sacrifices not only for our nation, but in life. Therefore, supporting the war effort gives us a higher morale, aids our government and lets us engage in helping our nation.
